How to get the perfect
reading vibe.
Ok y’all. This is an important topic! As someone with ADHD and a million things on my plate, a good reading environment is absolutely essential to get the full experience. There is nothing more annoying than finally getting a minute to sit and read only to be distracted or have the excitement wear off. Many times people will start a book and not finish not necessarily because they didn’t like the book but because there wasn’t enough to keep them invested. Part of that is the book, but another part of that is definitely the VIBE!
So, after many years of practice, I think that I have perfected the ‘cozy, calm, read-your-heart-out atmosphere that helps me become fully immersed in the story. I’m going to walk 'yall through a couple of the tips I’ve accumulated over the years. I hope this helps you all on your own reading adventures.

Part 1.
First thing’s First…
Comfort & the Coziest Clothes You Ever Did Wear
For me, cosiness is a MUST while reading. There is nothing worse than being uncomfortable while trying to hunker down for some good reading time. So, what do you need to feel comfortable? I am a big sensory person so what I’m wearing largely contributes to how comfortable I do or don’t feel.
Part 1 of the blog is going to focus on wardrobe. Here are a few recommendations I’ve found for the ultimate cosy, comfortable reading time…
the Trendy queen oversized pullover
Okay so, idk about for you but, SKIMS is a little out of my price range for cosy wear. After some hunting, I found this SKIMS hoodie dupe:
2. The AYWA Two Piece
Another fit that I have good intel as being a SKIMS dupe. I’ve never owned the brand name but I lounge in this set all the time. I probably have one in every color- ha.
3. The ODODOS 2-Pack Lounge Shorts
If you’re anything like me, I really cant stand to be in bed with pants or leggings of any kind on. Maybe it’s because I live in Texas, but it’s the same principle of sleeping with socks on- it’s a no for me. So, if it’s one of those nights/days (let’s be real) that I would prefer not to leave my bed and continue reading, a comfy pair of shorts is the only way to go.
Also, continuing on theme, these are SKIMS dupes as well. #kimisstealingyourmoney
4. The Ekouaer 2- peice Waffle Knit set
Honestly, nothing is stopping me from wearing this while doing errands other than the fact that these are #indoorclothes. SO SO cozy, cute and versatile.
5. AUTOMET Drawstring Sweat Shorts
I’m so down bad for these shorts. THEY COME IN SWEAT PANTS TOO, OKAY?
6. The Gihou Striped two Piece Pullover
Wait…. I’m actually obsessed with this. It’s giving Anthro dupe.
Other Important Cozy Accessories…
Important Staples: Shoes, Socks, Blankets & Pillows
Alright everyone, now that you’ve picked out some pjs or loungewear, there are a few other details that can really help round out that extra special vibe you are looking for.
Plz lmk in the comments if I am forgetting anything or if you think something should be added. TIA!
Can you even imagine curling up on the couch without a blanket? Even if it’s 90 degrees outside I am still snuggling up with a blanket and my favorite book.
This checkered blanket is TOO cute not to pass. Great for living rooms, bedrooms, the kids room, the office, etc! It’s SO soft and will be perfect for all your cosy autumnal reading nights.
2. The WOWMAX Corduroy Wedge Pillow
If you have back and/or neck problems, you really need to try out this pillow. There are a lot of poeple I know who give up on reading, or who can only read for small amounts of time because the position is just too uncomfortable or sometimes painful on their bodies. My advice: Invest in a proper wedge or reading pillow. If it doesn’t help, you can always return it.
You can use it in bed, on the floor and on the couch.
3. The Juspurbet Velvet Throw Pillows
I absolutely love these throw pillows- for decor and for function. They are so soft and, when I’m reading, I prefer to prop up the book on top of a throw pillow while I recline on the couch. It’s definitely a preference thing but if you are looking for some cute throw pillows that won’t break the bank, I would go with these. There are so many colors and you can chose the size you want as well!
4. The Emme Cotton Throw Blanket
Need a throw that’s a little lighter? This cotton throw blanket is so cute and so soft. It comes in either 4 or 6 layer Muslin and ranges in throw to queen sizes, if you wanted something a little bigger for your snuggle on the couch. It’s very breathable and lightweight- you can even pick one that has tassels!
I’ve seen one similar on the Pottery Barn website- SHHH!
100% Muslin Cotton // 4.6 Stars // 10 colors
5. the Chantomoo Memory Foam House Slippers
You will be walking on clouds, y’all. I freaking LOVE these house shoes. SO comfy and cosy. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wear my house shoes. There are two types of girlies: 1) house socks girlies and 2) house shoe girlies. If you are 1) these are for you.
Also, these slippers make great X-mas gifts for all your bookish girlies. YW!!!
6. the DOOWELL BArefoot Dreams Robe Dupe
YES this is a Barefoot Dreams dupe. Made from the same materials and even comes in the similar style. Adding to my cart now…
Okay y’all, that concludes Part 1 of creating the perfect reading vibe through a cosy wardrobe. Join me for Part 1 where we talk about AMBIANCE!
LOVE YA,
xxx Jill
